Miles Back to the Bush Festival was held in September 2025 attracting over 7,500 attendees across the four-day event.

With almost half of the attendees travelling from outside of the Western Downs, there were many opportunities for local businesses and community organisations to promote the region and realise positive economic benefits.

Miles Back to the Bush Festival is just one of our region's major events supported by Council's Major Events Program. The program supports festivals throughout the region which attract and grow visitation to the Western Downs through event-based tourism. These events provide economic benefits through local spend and increased visitor expenditure and raise the profile of the Western Downs Region across State and National platforms.

Council is proud to support the upcoming Jandowae Timbertown Festival which will be held from 4 to 7 June 2026 and the Tara Festival of Culture and Camel Races from 31 July to 2 August 2026.

Council congratulates the hard-working volunteer committees who make these events happen.
