Academic excellence across the Western Downs

As we near the end of the year, schools across the Western Downs are preparing to celebrate the outstanding achievements of their students at their annual award ceremonies.

Among the highest academic honours presented is the Dux Award. The award recognises the student who has achieved the highest academic results in their school’s highest year level.

Council is proud to support eligible public and private schools across the Western Downs by providing funding for each school’s Dux Award recipient. Over the past four years, Council has provided $6,850 through the Dux Award funding program with a Councillor or Council representative having the privilege of presenting each award.

These ceremonies unite school communities in celebrating their students and fostering pride in the accomplishments of our region’s young people.

Council congratulates all award recipients and students on their achievements and wishes every graduating student the very best as they take their next steps into further education, training, and employment.
