Mid 2023 saw the Southern Queensland Cutting Horse Association complete their project to improve the safety and efficiency of their organisation and events.

Funding from the Community Projects Program went towards the construction and installation of the loading ramp at Chinchilla Showgrounds. The project was completed with full support from the Chinchilla Show Society. The wider benefit of the upgrade included other organisations, such as campdraft committees, rodeo committees, or anyone else utilising the arena at the Showgrounds.

Recently after installing the upgrade, the organisation used it for an event where they handled 1,000 head of cattle. They estimated a 50% increase in efficiency regarding time, and the reduction of people involved in the process. As stated by the organisation: "the upgraded loading ramp is much safer and more efficient for cattle, volunteer handlers and truck operators".

Western Downs Regional Council would like to acknowledge the initiative and awareness the group has shown in their pursuit to further improve the operations of a facility regularly used by the wider community as well as the safety and welfare of all animals.

The Community Projects Program supports equipment purchases, capital infrastructure, upgrading of facilities to meet standards, regulations and community expectations, meet changing community needs and/or increase facility usage.
