Naming Public Assets
Naming of Council assets provides opportunities to honour individuals and groups for contributions and achievements that deserve recognition. They also present an opportunity to emphasise important relevant landmarks, geographical features or history.
Community members are invited to complete and submit the below form, outlining the relevant information pertaining to the name chosen for the selected asset.
All eligible submissions will be put to Council at the Ordinary Meeting of Council where they will decide on the preferred name. Council, at its discretion, may adopt, alter or reject any recommendation presented.
Submissions to name Council assets, excluding roads, will be assessed against the criteria listed in the below policy.
For more information, view Council’s Naming Public Assets Policy(PDF, 276KB) or contact on 1300 COUNCIL (1300 268 624) or info@wdrc.qld.gov.au.
Public assets current open for naming:
Bundi Road Bridge, Wandoan
Following works which saw a $3.6 million upgrade of the Bundi Road Bridge over Wandoan Creek, the community is now invited to submit names which they believe will be suitable for this new asset now and into the future.
The new design aims to improve flood immunity and significantly reduce the likelihood of road closures during wet weather. Additional works were also completed to the road approaches to increase safety for all road users, including the local school bus.
The project is a substantial part of recent investment in the Wandoan and Bundi area, with Council recently completing a 5.5-kilometre upgrade of Bundi Road from gravel to bitumen earlier this year, and the bridge upgrade on Bundi Road over Horse Creek in 2017.
