Blue Light Chinchilla is a police program that offers local youth the opportunity to engage in social and sporting activities in their community. The MERV (Mobile Entertainment Recreation Vehicle) is a trailer used by the organisation to provide entertainment at local community events. The refurbishment to the MERV Trailer creates more opportunities for volunteerism due to the increased number of events able to be held.

By utilising funding from the Community Projects Program, Blue Light was able to organise upgrades to the MERV through the purchase of game consoles and televisions. The additions were installed by volunteers, and unveiled at a local BBQ hosted by the organisation, at the Chinchilla skate park.

With plans to utilise the vehicle at future events, the Western Downs Regional Council acknowledges the group's work towards bringing safe and interactive activities to Chinchilla’s youth.

The Community Projects Program supports equipment purchases, capital infrastructure, upgrading of facilities to meet standards, regulations and community expectations, meet changing community needs and/or increase facility usage.
