Safety first for Chinchilla Race Club

The Chinchilla Race Club is an active organisation that hosts a range of events throughout the year, including race meets, fundraisers, community celebrations, and training opportunities. These events are often a collaborative occasion, with many local community groups providing support through managing canteen, gate and bar operations.

The Club is committed to maintaining high safety standards for participants, volunteers, and horses during race meets and community events. Funding recently provided by the Community Projects Program has enabled the Club to purchase new safety equipment, ensuring all that volunteer race day staff and track officials have access to properly fitted, high-quality safety vests and helmets that meet current industry standards. These are items that ensure all personnel working on or near the track are adequately protected, and that Chinchilla Race Club can continue to deliver safe events that bring together people from Chinchilla and the wider Western Downs region.

The benefits of this safety initiative will also extend beyond Chinchilla, with the Club sharing the equipment with the neighbouring Jandowae, Tara and Warra Race Clubs.

The Community Projects Program supports equipment purchases, capital infrastructure, upgrading of facilities to meet standards, regulations and community expectations, meet changing community needs and/or increase facility usage.
