Open for Business

Western Downs Regional Council is the local government for the Western Downs region, but we’re more than just a government body focused on roads, rates and rubbish.

We’re strategic, responsive and highly motivated by the economic and social development of the Western Downs, because we know where innovation flows and investors and developers go. We want everyone to know that the Western Downs is open for business, with an economy that’s as strong as it is diverse. To do this, we ensure we don’t just focus inwards, but outwards, to attract new investment and development opportunities. Our strategies directly align to Council’s Corporate Plan and supports one of Queensland’s most progressive Planning Schemes which is committed to attracting and enabling development.

For a full economic overview, we’d encourage you to review The Western Downs Economic Profile or read our fact sheet here(PDF, 1MB) to find out why the Western Downs is a great place to set up your business.

Feel free to contact our Economic Development team to discuss the opportunities and benefits of doing business and developing industry in the Western Downs.
