In September of 2025, the Chinchilla Historical Museum hosted two three-day arts workshops, led by internationally renowned Brazilian mosaic artists Solange and Alexandre Piffer. These workshops were held as part of a limited tour in Australia.

The incredible opportunity to learn directly from such distinguished mosaic artists attracted 26 eager participants.

Funding from the Regional Arts Development Fund Program helped to reduce the cost of the workshop fee, making the experience more accessible for participating artists.

By the end of the workshop, all participants had created their own unique mosaic piece, with many of the artworks going on to be featured in the Piffers’ travelling gallery.

The experience highlighted the Chinchilla Museum as a flexible and welcoming venue. Its shaded outdoor spaces, beautiful gardens, and natural setting created a calm and relaxing environment, ideal for creative activities and community gatherings.

Western Downs Regional Council acknowledges the work of the Chinchilla Historical Society in hosting this valuable arts experience, as well as the passionate Western Downs artists who keep regional arts thriving.
