In May 2025, the Saints Weightlifting Club hosted the 2025 Oly in the Outback Open Competition, incorporating The Qld Masters Championships. Over 100 athletes of all ages and abilities from many different clubs throughout Queensland came together to compete in the event held in Miles.

The event welcomed visiting athletes, officials, and supporters from across the state. Their attendance contributed to a boost in the local economy, with the influx of visitors patronising local businesses and accommodations.

The hosting Club took the opportunity to spotlight the vibrant offerings of the Miles district, encouraging attendees to explore the area’s unique tourism experiences and local enterprises.

Miles High State High School provided an excellent venue, playing host for the weightlifting competition. Funding from the Community Events Program went towards the purchase of medals and trophies for the athletes.

The dedication and support of the Saints Weightlifting Club members and volunteers, combined with the assistance of the local community, ensured that the weekend was a resounding success.
