Western Downs Regional Council has delivered a revitalisation of the Tara Pool which has provided a vibrant new aquatic facility for the area.

The project replaced an existing pool which was in an extremely poor condition, and enhanced a range of pool features and amenities.

The revamp supports a range of uses including Learn to Swim, squad training, representative meets, recreational swimming, and broader community get togethers.

Key Features:

brand new 25 metre pool with eight wider swim lanes
disability ramp and lane
accessible adult change facility
heating to extend the swim season
pool blankets to maintain water temperature
open communal spaces for community enjoyment
state of the art filtration systems
new kiosk and amenities

Support Measures for Tara Community

Council implemented a range of measures to support the Tara community while the new Aquatic Centre was being constructed (two consecutive swim seasons). These measures included:

Free entry to all Western Downs Regional Council pools for Tara residents
Free Learn 2 Swim and Squad Swim Programmes for Tara residents
Funding provided directly to the Tara Amateur Swimming Club to support travel costs to the total of $34,000. This funding is for the purpose of travel to any aquatic centre within region for the purpose of associated training and competition.
Tara residents received free entry to the revitalised Aquatic Centre until the community fun day which was held on 28 October 2023
