Yes! Dalby 2023

Following the success of last year's Young Entrepreneur Summit, which saw the participation of nearly 300 young locals, Council is pleased to again be partnering with the Australian School of Entrepreneurship to bring the extraordinary youth entrepreneurship and leadership Summit workshop to the Western Downs.

YES! which will be coming to Chinchilla on 14 February 2024, is a one-day event that aims to inspire and empower our future leaders, equipping them with the necessary skills and confidence to dream big and pursue their aspirations.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said Council is committed to investing in the abilities and confidence of our region's youth and equipping them with valuable life and business skills that can benefit the region's residents and economy for years to come.

"Western Downs boasts a rich history of innovation, often led by remarkable young leaders in business and industry. By bring the YES! back to our region, we continue to celebrate and empower our young people, acknowledging that the strength of the Western Downs lies in its people" Cr McVeigh said.

"This is the second time that the summit is being held in our region, which is very exciting for the Western Downs. This serves as a testament to Council's commitment to fostering the growth of the next generation and facilitating the development of future business and investment opportunities.

The 2023 summit was a great event attended by students from 12 schools, including young entrepreneur Charlotte Cross, who said that the day was extremely useful for anyone interested in starting their own business or transforming a hobby into an opportunity.

"My advice is, just go for it! You are young, you can do what you want, and you can get the support from your teachers, your parents, or your community" Ms Cross said

"I think events like this are very important because as our society is growing, our young people are wanting to do more for the community and for themselves, and this event gives them a little idea of how they can start something

Attendees of this year's summit are in for a treat with a range of exciting challenges and fun-filled activities. From keynote presentations, panel discussions, brainstorming exercises, and the chance to present their ideas to a panel of judges. These engaging opportunities have been thoughtfully put together to boost their confidence, enhance their skills, and have a positive impact on their future business or career.
