Western Downs Regional Council would like to advise Bell, Tara, and Wandoan residents of a notice of approved systematic inspection program as per the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008.
PROPERTIES INSPECTED AND SELECTION CRITERIA:
Property inspections will be conducted throughout part of the Western Downs Regional Council area focusing on the localities of Bell, Tara, and Wandoan.
PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM:
A systematic inspection program to:
- monitor compliance with the registration provisions of the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008; and
- monitor compliance with conditions relating to the keeping of regulated dogs in accordance with the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008.
AUTHORISED PERSONS CONDUCTING THE INSPECTIONS:
Inspections will be carried out by animal rangers from Western Downs Regional Council. Rangers will have identity cards issued by Council and shall identify themselves. Authorised persons will visit and if necessary, enter the yards of the premises to monitor compliance with the Animal Management Act (Cats and Dogs) 2008 in relation to the keeping of dogs.
COMMENCEMENT AND DURATION OF INSPECTION PROGRAM:
This program will commence on 1 February 2026 and will be in force for a period of 21 weeks expiring on 30 June 2026. Properties will be inspected from 7am to 5pm Monday to Sunday.
