Online webinar navigates Western Downs energy sector

Western Downs Regional Council is partnering with Queensland Manufacturing Institute to deliver the ‘Navigating the Energy Sector: Pathways for Manufacturers’ webinar on 3 February 2026 at 1pm.

This exciting online event will bring Paul Hodgson from CQ University and Nagesh Shukla from Griffith University to explore the latest innovations in hydrogen and battery technologies.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Andrew Smith, spokesperson for the Council, emphasised the importance of the webinar, stating this webinar provides manufacturers with invaluable insights into the future of the diversifying energy landscape on the Western Downs.

“The manufacturing sector stands as one of the key pillars of the Western Downs' economic growth, adding over $130 million to our local economy annually," Mayor Smith said.

"In our region, almost 150 local manufacturing businesses employ over 1,200 people and now, more than ever, energy innovation is driving new opportunities for our manufacturing sector.
