Enjoy an old-fashioned drive-in movie this winter on the Western Downs

Western Downs Regional Council is bringing back the ever-popular outdoor movies this winter, with free community drive-ins coming to Miles, Tara, Dalby, and Chinchilla next month.

A legendary family of explorers will embark on an epic journey in the family-friendly movie adventure, 'Strange World', at the drive-in movies throughout June as part of Council’s commitment to ensuring that the region's facilities are alive with activities that connect our active, vibrant communities.

Council spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said the outdoor movies will be a wonderful opportunity for Western Downs locals to get together with friends and family for a relaxed, family-friendly, and fun community event.

“The drive-in movies are always such a popular and fun social activity, and Council is excited to bring them back so that our residents can enjoy a great evening out at the drive-in movies in their local area,” Cr Maguire said.

“Residents have told us they love the novelty of being able to get in the car with their friends and family, stock up on goodies, drive in, park up, and watch the movie without even having to get out of their vehicles. It's both nostalgic and fun, so I'm very pleased to see the initiative return for another year.

"The Western Downs is epitomised by a 'it's the people that make it' attitude, so I encourage everyone to get involved, get down to the drive-in movies, and enjoy not only a great movie, but a wonderful chance to socialise and relax with other locals.

Food and beverages will not be available for purchase, so don't forget to stock up on goodies before heading out to the drive-in movies to enjoy this year's featured movie, 'Strange World'. This event is an unlicensed event.
