Western Downs Regional Council will hit the road this August to showcase the various procurement opportunities for local businesses coming up in the 2021/22 financial year.

Local businesses are encouraged to attend Council’s free Procurement Roadshow, which will visit Dalby, Chinchilla, Miles, and Tara next month.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Finance, Corporate Services and Business Strategy, Councillor Ian Rasmussen said Council was committed to communicating directly with local suppliers and showcasing opportunities to do business with Council.

“The Roadshow will enable businesses to communicate directly with Council the capabilities of their business and what they can offer upcoming projects,” Cr Rasmussen said.

"To actively live and buy local is very important for Council, it means looking for greater opportunities to work with our local businesses, and we have so many fantastic projects being delivered right across the region this financial year.

“Council is continually seeking a wide range of local suppliers across all categories of business.

"The Roadshow is not only aimed at creating more awareness about working with Council but it also gives the local businesses that make our region so great the opportunity to continue to grow and contribute to the economic  sustainability of the region.

"By hosting this Roadshow, we want to encourage our local businesses to start thinking about what they can offer Council's future projects and also to act as a reminder that Council puts its full support behind our local businesses.
