Western Downs community groups are encouraged to head along to a series of grants and funding educational initiatives taking place throughout the region over coming months, which are designed to help groups access valuable funding opportunities.

Council's Grants and Funding team is hosting a number of events that will help community groups to ensure that they make the most of the grants and funding opportunities available to them, by exploring grant types, processes, and applications.

These events will include a series of Community Engagement Days, with the Grants team visiting a new location across the region every month to offer support and guidance to community members looking to support their initiatives with Council grant funding.

The Community Grants Expo and Workshops will also be returning for a second year on Tuesday 28 March 2023 from 10am, at the Dalby Leagues Club. The Community Grants Expo and Workshops aim to build the capacity and confidence of the Western Downs community in applying for grant opportunities, and to improve the quality of applications submitted.

Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said these initiatives represented fantastic opportunities for community groups to build their skills and identify appropriate funding opportunities.

"We enjoy an active vibrant community on the Western Downs, and that is thanks in large part to the efforts of individuals, community groups and organisations,” Cr Maguire said.

“Council values the contributions of these groups and is proud to support their events and initiatives in our region through providing opportunities for funding.

“By holding the Community Engagement Days and Grants Expo, we hope to ensure that community groups are fully informed of what grants are available and how they can apply.

“Last year's Grants Expo and Workshops were very well received, so the team decided that by expanding the program to include face-to-face Community Engagement Days, they can provide additional support and insight into the grants and funding process.

"We are very fortunate to have a very knowledgeable and supportive Grants and Funding team at Council, and I know our local community groups or organisations looking to learn more about grants opportunities in our region are in safe hands

"In the Western Downs it is well-known that 'it's the people that make it', and Council is eager to support the grass-roots initiatives that help to make our region such a wonderful place to live, work and prosper through our grants & funding programs.

“I look forward to seeing the outcome of successful funding applications from those who take advantage of these wonderful educational opportunities.”
