Local artists are encouraged to share their creativity by entering the 2022 Western Downs Regional Artists’ Exhibition, with this year’s theme being Kaleidoscope.

The annual Regional Artists’ Exhibition is collaboratively planned and presented by the major Western Downs galleries, Dogwood Crossing, Gallery 107 @ Dalby and Lapunyah Art Gallery. The 2022 exhibition will be hosted by Dogwood Crossing, Miles.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said the Regional Artists’ Exhibition was a great opportunity for our local artists to showcase their incredible talents.

“We are very fortunate to be able to host an event that not only celebrates the creative residents that make the Western Downs such a vibrant, active place to live, but also to encourage tourism and show-off our fantastic galleries as they come alive with incredible artworks created by the people that make our region so unique,” Cr Maguire said.

“There is no shortage of talent in the Western Downs, and we will no doubt see some absolutely spectacular entries for this year’s exhibition as local artists interpret the exciting new theme.

This year’s theme, Kaleidoscope, refers to the endless cycle of creation and destruction as things fall apart and are put back together again, and artists will be required to respond to this theme as part of the exhibition.

Now in its 9th consecutive year, this year’s exhibition offers a total prize pool of $3800 across four categories (painting, works on paper, photography and 3D works), a Young Artist Award, and a People’s Choice Award.

Council is also offering a free artwork courier service to ensure artists have the opportunity to submit their entries, with collection points being the Dalby and Chinchilla Customer Service Centres on Tuesday 23 August 2022 between 8.15am – 4.45pm.

Entries for this year’s Western Downs Regional Artists’ Exhibition are now open and close 5pm Tuesday 23 August 2022.

This year’s Regional Artists Exhibition will be on display from Saturday 5 November 2022 at Dogwood Crossing, Miles.
