Lake Broadwater Environmental Park

Located 30km south-west of Dalby, Lake Broadwater is the perfect spot for a picnic under the shady river red and blue gums. Its peaceful setting among cypress pine, brigalow and eucalypts is a haven for water birds and native wildlife. When full, the lake can play host to boating, picnics, swimming and water sports. You can also watch a huge variety of water birds from the bird hide near the lake’s neck. 

Caravan and camping facilities are found here, along with toilet and shower blocks and designated fireplaces.

Lake Broadwater Boating Rules and Regulations

All Department of Transport and Main Roads, Department of Environment and Science, and Maritime Safety Queensland boating rules apply at Lake Broadwater.

  1. All motored vessels must register with Western Downs Regional Council BEFORE entering the water.  A new registration is required for each day you boat on Lake Broadwater.

  2. Boating permitted from 6am to sundown. All boats must be removed from the water before sunset.

  3. All motored vessels must have a current registration and be operated by an operator with a current Recreational Marine Driver Licence or Personal Watercraft Licence.

  4. Watercraft may only be launched from the boating ramp.

  5. All vessels must travel in a clockwise direction

  6. No watercraft (motorised or non-motorised) are permitted in the 'neck' area of the lake - this is a waterfowl refuge.

  7. Vessels must not operate at more than a speed of 6knots within 30m of the swimming area, other watercraft, boating ramp.

  8. Swimmers are restricted to designated areas, and children must always be supervised.

  9. All marine incidents MUST be reported to Maritime Safety Queensland by the vessel's owner and / or operator.
