Community groups, organisations and event committees are empowered to take their event ideas to the next level, with a refreshed downloadable Events Toolkit now available to support the planning and delivery of local events across the Western Downs.

The free online toolkit outlines key considerations, practical guidance, Council requirements, and accessible resources to help local organisers navigate the event planning process.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Cr Peter Saxelby said the toolkit was designed to make event planning simple, more accessible, and less stressful.

“We know our community groups are passionate about creating events that bring people together, but planning those events can feel overwhelming, particularly for volunteers or first-time organisers,” Cr Saxelby said.

“This toolkit houses practical resources all in one place, helping organisers navigate requirements and gain confidence to deliver successful events."

“We’re passionate about empowering our communities to develop their own local initiatives and events, because it's the people that make it. This toolkit is another way we’re supporting them to bring those ideas to life.”

The refreshed toolkit was launched at Council's Events Bootcamp in May, which saw strong attendance from region wide event organisers and suppliers.

Cr Saxelby said the bootcamp provided a valuable opportunity for networking, with attendees engaging in meaningful conversations and sharing experience throughout the day.

"The Bootcamp offered practical learning, a chance to connect and share experiences," he said.

“This is about enabling our community to continue delivering the unique, fun and unmistakably Western Downs events we’re known for.

“As more people use the toolkit, we will no doubt see an increase of great events emerging across the region, benefiting both organisers and the broader community."
