Western Downs Regional Council is inviting community members to unite for an unforgettable evening filled with continuous laughter and entertainment this October as two talented Australian comedians, Harley Breen and Bron Lewis, take to the stage throughout the region as part of 'Not Just for Laughs'.

Returning for an eighth year, the beloved comedy event will be visiting Bell, Chinchilla, and Dulacca.

Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said  the event is not only an opportunity to hear some of the country's best comedy talent, but also a chance to share some laughs and uplift your spirits with your mates and neighbours.

"This wonderful event was initially established in 2015 to help bolster the spirits of our drought-affected communities, and it has since become a highly anticipated gathering that fosters community unity," Cr Maguire said.

"Our rural towns are at the heart of our active, vibrant Western Downs community, and these occasions provide an opportunity for us to unite, enjoy some wonderful entertainment and spend time with our friends and neighbours.

"In the Western Downs we know that it's the people that make it. Whenever there is hardship, we always come together to support each other. Gatherings like Not Just For Laughs serve as a reminder that we are a unified region, and that no one is ever on their own.

"It's truly exciting to welcome two such highly regarded comedy stars to our area as for these events throughout October, and I encourage everyone to grab a mate and book tickets for one of these fantastic shows.”

Audiences are guaranteed to have a rip-roaring good time, thanks to this year's talent Harley Breen, the renowned and award-winning comedian, television host, and radio personality, and Bron Lewis, who is emerging as one of Australia's brightest comedic stars.

Drought Angels will also make an appearance at this year's events, providing insights and details on the fantastic assistance programs they extend to rural and farming communities.

The first Not Just for Laughs 2023 event will take place at the Bell Memorial Hall on Friday 13 October, followed by the Chinchilla Cultural Centre on Saturday, 14 October, and finally at The Dulacca Hotel on Sunday 15 October.

Doors open at 6.00pm for pre-show dinner and drinks for purchase with the show starting at 7.30pm for Bell and Chinchilla.

Doors open at 2pm, with the show starting at 3.30pm for Dulacca.

Community groups will be selling meals and operating a bar at the Bell and Chinchilla events, with 100% of the profits going back to these community groups. Food and drink will be available for purchase at the Dulacca Hotel for the Dulacca event.
