Study Assistance Programs

Council aims to provide all staff with the opportunity to pursue higher learning and career development opportunities through various levels of financial assistance and study leave.

Western Downs Regional Council levels of assistance are:

Category 1 - up to 100% reimbursement for tuition fees and compulsory text books

A course undertaken as a condition of the officer’s employment.

Category 2 - up to 75% reimbursement for tuition fees and compulsory text books

A course which is directly relevant to the officer’s area of work and the skills or qualifications deemed by the Chief Executive Officer and the Director as being appropriate to that area of work.

Category 3 - up to 50% reimbursement for tuition fees and compulsory text books

A course demonstrated to the satisfaction of the Council to be directly relevant to local government. The content of such course shall have specific application to functions and processes carried out by Local Authorities.
