It’s not too late to sign up for Council’s Sport & Recreation Assistance Program -not only do our grants help out our fantastic sports teams across the region, but we get to share great stories just like this one!⠀
It’s an understatement to say that Macauley here is a superstar athlete. After a lot of hard work, he was selected to represent that State in touch football at last year’s Pacific School Games. With Council’s backing, he was able to focus on footy and not have to worry about the cost of flights. And the best part? He got the gold 🏅⠀
If you are a sporting team or individual after a little boost to go from good to great, we’d love to hear from you. Read More

Did you make it out to the Miles Show this week? Meet Kim Chew, Faye Burton, Gail Courte and Glen Ruediger, just a few of the fantastic volunteers who helped make it a great success.

Joining his family at working bees when he was only in primary school was just the beginning for Jim Moran.
From one of our region's biggest festivals of the year @tarafestival to the Tara Show and the Hannaford Campdraft — there's not a club, event or committee in Tara, The Gums or Hannaford that Jim hasn't helped at over the years.
Being a part of strengthening his community's local events is something he's very proud of: "Without volunteers our local events can't survive. All events across our region are a credit to all involved and it's great to see everyone work together and make it happen. There's no better sense of achievement when an event you've been involved in is a great success." #NVW2018 Read More
If you've ever been to the @jandowaetimbertownfestival or Jandowae Races, hit a round at the Jandowae Golf Club or supported the guys at the Jandowae Jackaroos Junior Rugby League Club and Canaga Cricket Club chances are Michael Wood has been one of the smiling faces behind it.
Known by many in the area as 'Woodsy' it was only natural Michael got into volunteering with parents who've "volunteered in and around Jandowae forever". It was the Jandowae Timbertown Festival's cry for help to keep the event going that spurred him into volunteering for the Committee and he's never looked back: "I'm very passionate about this great little country town we live in. Being involved in such a great committee and great event, meant that we were giving back to pretty much every community group in town and so many businesses." #NVW2018 Read More
Today we're shining the spotlight on one of our very own @westerndownslibraries volunteers Madi Kenna.
If you've joined in on one of our STEAM squad activities over the last few weeks chances are you would have seen this bright bubbly face.
Madi has been volunteering at her local library since she was in Grade 6 and the first thing she did after moving to the region with her parents earlier this year was put her hand up to volunteer at the Dalby Library.
As our newest volunteer Madi puts her love of organising to work, helping our staff with our Library programs and says volunteering has made the move to Dalby a lot easier: "It's not just putting books on the shelf. I've made a lot of friends through my volunteering. The other day I came in when they were opening up to start the day everyone said 'Hi Madi' and I felt so welcome. I felt a part of something." #NVW2018 Read More
