Russell Park Mountain Bike Trails

Western Downs Regional Council is delivering new mountain bike trails at Russell Park which is located at the Bunya Mountains.

This new adventure experience will create exciting new recreational opportunities which will cater to all riding abilities. The trails will link up with several sites in the area including Munro's Camp, Russell Park Day Area, Bunya Mountains Outlook and Rifle Bird Park.

The project is one of several initiatives as part of Council's COVID-19 Recovery Package to secure and create jobs and enhance the liveability of the region.

Key Features:

  • Approximately 30kms of trails in total
  • 6 trail loops of varying lengths ad Mountain Trail Bike Australia Ratings of easy, easy intermediate, and intermediate
  • Loops range in length from 1.4km and 7.8km
  • Designated interface points to accommodate both the mountain bike trails and the walking trails
  • Designed to preserve the natural environment, minimal footprint in the pristine Bunya Mountains locality

Project Status: Underway - Design Phase 

Detailed design underway
Council has appointed Bligh Tanner to project manage the detailed design of the project, with a consortium of subject matter experts involved in the design process. Eg. World Trail designing the mountain bike trail, Greenedge Design for the landscaping aspects as well as specialists for the environmental and cultural heritage key aspects of the project.
