Will your sausage creation sizzle this Australia Day?

3 December 2015

Western Downs Regional Council is calling all snag enthusiasts in the Chinchilla District to submit their ideal flavour concept to makeover the humble Australian sausage for the ‘Flavour it Your Way’ sausage sizzle to be held at the Chinchilla Historical Museum on Australia Day, Tuesday 26 January 2016.

Residents wanting to take part in the competition will need to:

  • Collect and submit an entry form at Council’s Chinchilla Customer Service Centre, Gleeson’s Quality Meats or The Purple Cow Butcher by Friday 8 January 2016;
  • Judges will select six finalists based on originality, creativity, and feasibility of the entry concept;
  • Finalists will be notified by Monday 18 January 2016, with their concepts then brought to life by local butchers and made available at the ‘Flavour It Your Way’ sausage sizzle at the Family Fun Afternoon from 2pm at the Chinchilla Historical Museum on Australia Day.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Ray Brown said that they are anticipating that flavour concepts will reflect the diversity and culture that are represented within the Chinchilla community.

“What a fantastic way to celebrate our Australian way of life. Whether you are creating your very own sausage flavour or just enjoying a snag off the ‘barbie’ with friends and family on a beautiful summers’ day,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing families celebrating Australia Day within their community and enjoying the locally created flavours on offer, with the best snag as voted by the community being awarded on the day, so don’t forget to vote for your favourite.”
