Western Downs SES Unit seeking Deputy Local Controller

Western Downs Regional Council and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) are calling for a passionate community-minded individual to assist the Western Downs SES Unit in the key volunteer role of Deputy Local Controller.

  • Candidates do not need to have SES experience to apply for the role;
  • Demonstrated skills in administration, finance, resource management, and good communication are highly desirable; and
  • Applications close 5pm, Friday 13 November.

Mayor Ray Brown said the successful applicant will play a key role in assisting Council and QFES in supporting and coordinating the local SES groups throughout the region.

“We are seeking a person who is committed and passionate about giving back to their community, exemplifies personal drive, integrity and is results driven,” he said.

“The Deputy Local Controller will work closely with the Regional Local Controller, Council, and QFES to manage the Western Downs SES Unit’s response to disaster and emergency operations across the region, as well as contribute to the ongoing development of our volunteers.”

Applicants must be prepared to undertake appropriate SES training modules identified within the SES Training Framework for this position.
