Western Downs Libraries wins digital innovation award at the E20 Best of Education Awards

Libraries win digital innnovation E20 Award

In an international field of finalists from Libraries, Schools, TAFEs and Universities, Western Downs Libraries has been awarded for their excellence in digital innovation at the recent E20 Best of Education 2015 Awards at the State Library of Queensland in Brisbane.

Council was recognised for their innovation in using technology to enhance learning experiences, winning:

  • Highly Commended in Best Education Practice of 2015 for Western Downs Libraries Open Access Project from a field of 25 finalists from across Australia and New Zealand;
  • The Project is designed to help make library online resources more available to the people of the Western Downs by enabling greater access to the new online learning courses through the Libraries website;
  • This award demonstrates that Council is committed to following best practice to deliver services of a high-standard to our residents and the wider community.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development and Health Services Councillor Carolyn Tillman said the recognition for excellence in the use of technology to enhance the use of library resources outside of the traditional library space is a testament to the dedication of Council staff.

“Western Downs Libraries are fast becoming renowned for providing a standard of service and innovation that rivals libraries many times our size,” she said.

“This is an exceptional achievement for our staff, and highlights Council’s commitment to improving our library services to not only benefit members of Western Downs Libraries but also the wider community outside of our region.

“Our digital ambition and focus means we can develop and deliver projects of real excellence for the people of the Western Downs.”
