Chinchilla Botanic Parkland

The Chinchilla Botanic Parkland, officially opened on May 28 2019, was the culmination of a community vision going back more than 40 years for a special area in the town for everyone to enjoy. At the same time, it increases biodiversity by providing a safe home for native animals, birds and insects. All the plants in the Parkland, which sits on the site of the old Chinchilla Rail Depot, have been carefully chosen for Chinchilla’s dry conditions.

Learn about the area’s railway heritage, search for the prehistoric ‘mega marsupial’ the Diprotodon, or learn about Aboriginal peoples culture through scarred trees and yarning circle, before cooling off in the Water Play area.
