Council releases tickets for Big Skies Hot Air Balloon Rides in time for Valentine’s Day

Hopeless romantics, doting sweethearts or those just wanting to treat their loved ones on February 14 can take their love to new heights with a little help from the cupids over at Big Skies.

Forget the usual chocolates, flowers and stuffed teddy bears, this Valentine’s Day Big Skies is giving you the chance to give your special someone a gift they’ll remember — a hot air balloon ride over the majestic Jimbour Plains.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Economic Development Councillor Donna Ashurst said the Team behind Big Skies is celebrating the month of romance by offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences.

“It’s not every day you get the chance to float with someone special high above the Jimbour Plains,” she said,

“Imagine having a bird’s eye view of our region. Not many people can say they’ve seen Jimbour House or the Bunya Mountains from the sky.

“The hot air balloon rides are a chance to experience everything great about our region — the beautiful sunrise, the great farming land and the open spaces.”

Cr Ashurst said even those scared of heights can enjoy the beauty of the balloons with their feet planted firmly on solid ground.

“Big Skies will also be hosting a delicious breakfast at Jimbour House where you can watch the balloons take to the skies,” she said.

“You’ll get to see the balloons do a choreographed dance to music, and with the range of colours it’ll be pretty spectacular just to sit back with a cuppa or a champagne and watch.”
