Summer watering times to spring into action

15 October 2017

With Spring now in full bloom and the warmer weather setting in, Council is encouraging residents to continue on their water conserving efforts with the change into summer watering times and restrictions from midnight Sunday 15 October.

  • With water consumption generally increasing in the warmer months, Council is asking customers to be mindful of their local water restrictions to help ensure water will be effectively managed throughout the seasons;
  • Residents are reminded that there are designated watering times for each restriction level, and a total outside water ban will continue to apply on Mondays for all residents; and
  • Authorised Council Officers regularly monitor for compliance to these restrictions across the region.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Utilities Councillor Peter Saxelby said that most residents already practice good water conservation habits, therefore continuing to be proactive in the warmer months is an easy shift.

“We thank our customers for continuing to be ‘waterwise’ by being mindful of their consumption, however we encourage our residents to remain vigilant coming into the summer,” he said.

“Continuing these habits is as easy as following your town’s allocated water levels and restrictions, and remembering not to water at all on Mondays.

“We can all play a part across the Western Downs to be water conscious.”

For more information on watering restrictions and the permitted activities under each restriction, contact Council on 1300 COUNCIL or visit

Conditions for non-residential users may vary and more information on non-residential water restrictions is available on Council’s website.
