Seats filling fast at region’s biggest comedy event of the year

2 October 2015

With just one week to go until well-known Australian comedian Tom Gleeson brings his unique style of stand-up comedy to our drought-affected communities, seats are filling fast so be sure to promptly secure your free tickets to the region’s biggest comedy event of the year.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development and Health Services Councillor Carolyn Tillman said anticipation is building across our region as the Not Just For Laughs Comedy nights approach.

“Western Downs residents have been rushing to secure their seats since we released the event tickets at the start of September,” she said.

“We are extremely excited that Tom Gleeson will be coming to our region along with rising Australian comedian Damien Power to help give our drought-affected communities an unforgettable night of fun and laughter.

“These events coincide with Mental Health Week, and provide a timely opportunity for residents to reflect on mental health and take positive steps to highlight the importance of mental wellbeing in our communities, particularly during times of drought.

“We are looking forward to our residents, their families and friends, coming together for a night of laughs and comedy gold, while acknowledging the hardships of drought that our communities are currently facing.

“Seats at all Not Just For Laughs Comedy nights are filling fast, so I strongly encourage residents to get in quick and secure their tickets before it’s too late.”

Residents can reserve their tickets by contacting Council on 1300 COUNCIL or dropping into their nearest Council Customer Service Centre. The events are recommended for ages 16 and above. A free light meal will be included on the night.
