Register to receive your rates and water notices by email

The issuing of rates notices this week has signalled the arrival of an alternative way for property owners to receive their rates and water notices from Western Downs Regional Council, as they are now able to register to get their notices by email (excludes gas).

Spokesperson for Corporate Support Councillor Ian Rasmussen said property owners should have received a flyer with their notices outlining the simple registration process they need to follow to access this service.

“To be able to receive rates and water notices by email, owners first need to complete and return the ‘Request to Receive Rate/Water Notice/s Electronically’ form,” he said.

“Property owners can get a copy of the registration form by phoning Council, dropping into one of our Customer Service Centres, or downloading it from Council’s website.”

Cr Rasmussen also reminded ratepayers that they can take advantage of the discount on offer by paying their rates early.

“If ratepayers settle their notices in full on or before the due date of Wednesday 1 April, by either paying in-person at any Customer Service Centre, by post, phone or online, they will receive a 10 per cent discount,” he said.

“If paying electronically, remember to allow plenty of time for Council to receive your payment as it can take up to four days, depending on your financial institution, for the payment to be processed. Also be sure to use the correct details and reference numbers on the front of your notice, as the biller codes are different to that of water and gas notices.”
