As part of the COVID-19 Recovery Package, Council is supporting local community and sporting groups with a $1 million Community Infrastructure Grants Program and $300,000 Community Hardship & Assistance Grants Program

Community Hardship & Assistance Grants Program

The Community Hardship & Assistance Grants Program includes $300,000 in funding to provide ‘quick response’ financial assistance to eligible community organisations that are experiencing financial hardship as a result of COVID-19.

 Eligible groups will be able to apply for financial grants of up to $10,000 with applications opening on 1 June, 2020.  Applications for this program will be open for 12 months. Council will notify applicants of the outcome within 10 business days of having received a completed application.

Community Infrastructure Grants Program

Council has dedicated $1 million to the Community Infrastructure Grants Program in order to fund infrastructure or capital works for not-for-profit community groups and sporting organisations. This will allow Council to assist in funding new infrastructure for these groups by a 50/50 split – meaning if your not-for-profit community group or sporting group is looking to construct a new building Council will assist by funding half of the costs.

Eligible groups are able to apply for a grant of up to $200,000 as part of the 50/50 funding partnership with Council to upgrade or build new facilities or associated infrastructure.

Applications open on 1 June, 2020 and close on 30 September, 2020 with all projects required to be completed by the end of 2021.

How do these programs differ?

The Community Infrastructure Grants Program supports not for profit community and sporting groups seeking to improve or upgrade their facilities.

The Community Organisation Hardship and Assistance Grants Program provides financial assistance to eligible community groups significantly impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.

How do I apply?

Eligible groups can after applications open 1 June 2020 through Council’s Online Grants Portal or for further information visit our Grants and Funding webpage. Our friendly Customer Contact Centre can assist you further if you call 1300 268 624. Applications open 1 June 2020 and close on 30 September 2020.

When will I find out if my application is successful?

Council will notify applicants of the outcome of their application.
