Rates notices on their way to residents mailboxes

From this week, Western Downs Regional Council ratepayers will start to receive their rates notices for the period 1 July 2015 to 31 December 2015, with payment due on or before Wednesday 30 September 2015.

Spokesperson for Corporate Support Councillor Ian Rasmussen encourages property owners to take advantage of the 10 per cent discount on offer.

“If ratepayers settle their notices in full on or before the due date of Wednesday 30 September, by either paying in-person at any Customer Service Centre, by post, phone or online, they will receive a 10 per cent discount,” he said.

“If paying electronically, remember to allow plenty of time for Council to receive your payment as it can take up to four days, depending on your financial institution, for the payment to be processed. Also be sure to use the correct details and reference numbers on the front of your notice, as the biller codes are different to that of water and gas notices.

“I would also like to encourage ratepayers to contact Council immediately if, in the next couple of weeks they still haven’t received their rates notice. Council will be able to ensure your details are correct and arrange for a copy of the rate notice to be sent to your nominated address.”

Cr Rasmussen also reminded ratepayers that they are now able to register to receive their notices by email (excludes gas).

“Property owners who prefer to receive their notices electronically can now also opt-in to get their water and rates notices sent to them by email,” he said.

“To access this service, property owners simply need to complete and return the ‘Request to Receive Rate/Water Notice/s Electronically’ form available from any Council Customer Service Centre and our website.”
