Paleo chef to inspire clean, healthy living through Library Tour

10 March 2014

With the Paleo food diet gaining popularity throughout the community, your local library is a great source of books, DVDs and other resources for recipes and information about healthy living, and to complement these materials, local Paleo chef Jen Shaw will be touring selected Western Downs Libraries branches throughout March to provide first-hand tips on good food choices.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development and Health Services Councillor Carolyn Tillman said this is a great opportunity for the community to learn more about the Paleo food philosophy from an industry professional.

“Making sure that we make the right food choices for ourselves and our families can sometimes be a struggle, particularly when we may not know how to start introducing clean and healthy living practices into our lifestyles,” she said.

“The Paleo food philosophy has been gaining momentum recently and it promotes the idea of eating foods that are as close to their natural state as possible while still appreciating the culinary delights of the modern world.

“Jen Shaw is a busy mother of six and owner-operator of ‘Barefoot Kitchens’ and will be touring selected Western Downs Libraries branches to bring you tips on where and what to buy, how to keep it within a budget, and demonstrating some easy recipes you can try at home.

“I encourage everyone who is interested in learning more about the Paleo food philosophy and clean, healthy living through good food choices, to come along to one of Jen Shaw’s sessions at their local library.”

Jen Shaw will be touring as follows:

• 10am, Thursday 12 March — Moonie Library (morning tea provided). Limited spaces available.
• 5.30pm, Thursday 12 March — Meandarra Library (wine and canapés provided)
• 10am, Friday 27 March — Bell Library (morning tea provided)
• 5.30pm, Friday 27 March — Chinchilla Library (wine and canapés provided). This session is fully booked.

Spaces are limited so bookings are essential. Reserve your place at, via or by phoning 1300 COUNCIL.
