Calling all painters, potters, sculptors, photographers, drawers and tinkerers! Local artists living or working in the Western Downs are invited to submit work in any media to the 2017 Regional Artists’ Exhibition responding to the theme ‘On Show’ with submissions now extended to Friday 7 July.

  • The Western Downs Regional Artists’ Exhibition, now in its 4th year, is a partnership between our region’s three main gallery committees — Dogwood Crossing, Miles; Gallery 107 @ Dalby; and Lapunyah Art Gallery, Chinchilla;
  • This year’s exhibition will be hosted by Gallery 107 @ Dalby, with opening night on Saturday 2 September and will run until Sunday 8 October;
  • Artists may submit up to four works, with the final exhibition and winning entries selected by curator Lisa Beilby;
  • All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form, and be handed into Gallery 107 @ Dalby by no later than 4pm on Friday 7 July.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said the Regional Artists’ Exhibition is a great opportunity for our established and up-and-coming artists to showcase their talents.

“We’ve seen some absolutely spectacular entries in past exhibitions, with the Regional Artists’ Exhibition growing every year to become a must-see event on our region’s arts and cultural calendar,” she said.

“There is no shortage of talent in the Western Downs, and with some great prizes up for grabs this exhibition is a chance for our local artists to showcase their creativity to both residents and visitors to our region.

“This year’s theme ‘On Show’ is full of possibilities, and I’m excited to see the many different interpretations in this year’s entries.”

Artists looking to enhance their professional development are invited to register for a two day Workshop Developing, managing and promoting an exhibition with curator Lisa Beilby on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 September. For more information contact Dogwood Crossing, Miles on 07 4628 5330.
