New Miles town entry signage ready to welcome locals and visitors in style

Stage three of Western Downs Regional Council’s Town Entry Signage project has been completed with the new Miles signs joining the rest of the finished signs around the region.

The Council run initiative involving the upgrade of all town entry signs across the region began in 2016.

The much-needed update beautifies the entrances and gives both residents and visitors a special welcome.

One of the main focuses of this project was to promote town pride and create a united regional identity which would also reflect the individuality of each town. Extensive community consultation was undertaken between the locals and Council to achieve this.

For Miles, it was agreed that the Dogwood flower would best symbolise the town as this native flower grows wild on the Dogwood Creek that runs through the area.

Danthonia Designs were tendered to complete the construction of the signs before Council’s Parks and Open Spaces team and contractors stepped in to finish the works.

Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire is excited to have another sign completed putting us a step closer to finishing the project as a whole.

“The hope for this initiative is to provide a warm welcome to residents and visitors while also giving them a feel for the town and thanks to the joint effort between council and the community, I think this has been achieved.”

The community and visitors can now view the completed Miles sign at the town entrances.
