Bookings can be made by completing an Application for Showgrounds Hire and Terms & Conditions of Hire form or alternatively by contacting the Western Downs Regional Council’s Facilities Team on 1300 COUNCIL or by email mary.bedlington@wdrc.qld.gov.au

If the applicant wishes to use the Showgrounds Improvement Committee Facilities listed within the Showgrounds they must negotiate with the groups personally. Contact details for these groups can be obtained from Council’s Facilities Administration Officer – Mary Bedlington on the listed contacted details.

Tara Showgrounds are located on the edge of town on Showgrounds Road next to the Tara Lagoon Camping Area. The Showgrounds is a venue well facilitated with a choice of areas and buildings within the grounds that are well maintained and available for hire.

The Showgrounds are home to the Annual Show every March, The Tara Festival of Culture and Camel races every two years in August, Polo Cross, Tara Races, Campdraft, Senior Cricket and at Easter the Sheepdog Trials.

The Showgrounds does not allow onsite camping/caravans unless part of an organised event or travelling with livestock. As an alternative at the entrance to the showgrounds is the Tara Lagoon Camping Area. This area offers clean facilities including hot showers, powered sites, picnic tables and walkways along the lagoon which is part of the Undulla Creek. The Founders pavilion is a large under covered area with a built in stage.

The Pangaea bar area is to the side of the Secretary’s Office. The area is fully under cover and features canteen style windows for serving.
