There is only a short time left for residents to see the creative talents of visual arts students from the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) on display at the John Mullins Memorial Art Gallery, Dogwood Crossing, Miles, with the Islands on the Coast exhibition set to close on Tuesday 15 December.

Visitors to Dogwood Crossing, Miles can expect to be captivated by;

  • The transitional nature of painting and drawing in the 21st Century explored in the Islands of the Coast exhibition;
  • The varied ways of working within the painting and drawing medium as well as national and international movements in the field, reflected in the works created by the visual arts students of USQ;
  • The natural beauty of our Western Downs captured in Creatif4’s In Perfect Harmony exhibition, which is also showing on the Curved Wall until Tuesday 15 December.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development and Health Services Councillor Carolyn Tillman said Dogwood Crossing, Miles is pleased to be working with Creative Arts students from USQ.

Islands on the Coast follows the very successful Curious Spaces exhibition in 2010 and the Tall Tales and Other Adventures exhibition in 2014 by USQ Spatial Construction students at Dogwood Crossing, Miles,” she said.

“Council is pleased to be working with the painting and drawing students from the University of Southern Queensland to help them move beyond the university environment and present their work to regional audiences in an A-Class Regional Art Gallery.

“I strongly encourage everyone to come and see the Islands on the Coast and In Perfect Harmony exhibitions before they close on Tuesday 15 December.”
