Free weekend of festivities to celebrate Opera at Jimbour

1 June, 2021

The Western Downs will come alive between 26 and 27 June with a free community celebration to welcome the acclaimed Opera at Jimbour music event.

Western Downs Regional Council will host a free entry weekend of markets, with artisan stalls, and roving entertainment at the magnificent Jimbour Station. The markets build on the excitement of the QLD Music Trails’ Opera event taking place at Jimbour House.

Council’s Tourism, Events and Regional Promotion Spokesperson Councillor Kylie Bourne said the event would celebrate the region’s active, vibrant communities and was open for everyone to attend.

“We are delighted to welcome QLD Music Trails to the magnificent Jimbour House from 25 June, and what better way to showcase our fantastic community than bringing everyone together for two days of delicious food, drink, and entertainment,” Cr Bourne said.

“The opera markets will run across Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm, and will host fabulous artisan markets, delicious food vendors, bar facilities, and incredible entertainment.

“With an amazing event like Opera at Jimbour taking place next door, what a great opportunity to offer something a little extra for visitors and locals.

“This means that even if you do not have tickets to Opera at Jimbour, you can still head to this beautiful location and enjoy a fantastic day out.”

Opera at Jimbour is the first stop for the QLD Music Trails events, offering three days of incredible performances, tours, camping experiences, and more.

Cr Bourne said Opera at Jimbour was shaping up to be another stellar musical event.

‘We are delighted to host the QLD Music Trails event delivered by Queensland Music Festival, and to showcase the places and people that make our region so special,” she said

“Russell Pastoral Company is also hosting a camp kitchen experience for breakfast and dinner during the festival, which will showcase their finest local produce. Tickets for this can also be purchased as part of the QLD Music Trails event.

“I encourage everyone to head to the QLD Music Trails website to find out more about this wonderful experience, and I hope to see everyone out at Jimbour Station between 25 and 27 June.”

The community celebration is free to attend, however people are encouraged to bring cash on the day for food, drinks, and market goods.

This is a COVID-safe event. Please stay at home if you are feeling unwell.
