Council partnered with the Federal Government to fast-track the $1.2 million revamp of the well-known outdoor facility as part of its COVID-19 Recovery Package to secure and create jobs and enhance the liveability of the region.

Council Spokesperson for Recreational Spaces and Cemeteries Councillor Carolyn Tillman said the upgrades had revitalised the facility and enhanced recreational opportunities for the region.

“We take pride in our natural assets and environment and this project has delivered a range of new features which will ensure a more enjoyable experience for residents and travellers,” Cr Tillman said.

“We are proactively advancing our region as a tourism destination, and this project is about promoting our fantastic region and enticing more people to visit our towns and stay in our region a little longer,” Cr Bourne said.

“Caliguel Lagoon is a fantastic spot to go for a kayak or a swim, and arguably has one of the best vantage points for a Western Downs sunset.

“Condamine is also a really interesting place to visit with a unique history, so I encourage people to consider heading to the area for a fantastic experience exploring the revamped Caliguel Lagoon and surrounding area.”

This project was delivered in partnership with the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.
