Economic Development

Western Downs Regional Council is the local government for the Western Downs region, but we’re more than just a government body focussed on roads, rates and rubbish.

We’re strategic, responsive and highly motivated by the economic and social development of the Western Downs, because we know where innovation flows and investors and developers go.

We want everyone to know that the Western Downs is open for business, with an economy that’s as strong as it is diverse.

To do this, as a Council we ensure we don’t just focus inwards, but outwards, to attract new investment and development opportunities.

We’ve identified the following industries as growth drivers for our region. To find out more about how we focus our attention on enabling new opportunities in these industries, select the tiles below.

If you’re considering growing or investing, we invite you to explore the Western Downs.

Feel free to contact our Economic Development team to discuss the opportunities and benefits of doing business and developing industry in the Western Downs.
