Coronavirus (COVID-19)


Western Downs Regional Council is working closely with the Queensland and Australian Governments to plan, prepare and coordinate response to the impacts of Coronavirus (COVID-19) in the region.

Our priority is the health and safety of the entire Western Downs community and we continue to comply with advice provided by the relevant authorities.

Council Services, Facilities and Events 

Council is acting and operating in accordance with advice provided by the relevant authorities and as a result, a number of Council events, services and facilities are temporarily unavailable until further notice.

Waste collection services and waste facilities are operating normally.

Our focus is to ensure essential services and programs are provided as safely, effectively and reliably as possible. Council appreciates your understanding and cooperation as we work together to address Coronavirus in our region.

Queensland Health Information 

To help slow the infection rate, Queensland Health advises that individuals should take the following steps:

  1. Clean your hands regularly with soap and water or alcohol-based rand sanitisers
  2. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or bent elbow when coughing or sneezing
  3. Avoid touching your face, nose and mouth and avoid shaking hands
  4. Stay home if you are unwell
  5. Avoid close contact with others – keep a 1.5 metre distance where ever possible
  6. Stay home where possible and only head out into the community for essential reasons such as attending supermarkets, pharmacies, medical facilities or schools.
