Council takes over management of our aged care facilities

1 May 2015

Western Downs Regional Council will be taking over from external management services to independently manage its Tarcoola and Carinya Aged Care Facilities as of Tuesday 5 May.

Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development and Health Services Councillor Carolyn Tillman said the change demonstrates that Council is focussed on supporting our communities.

“Council is committed to providing accessible and dependable aged care facilities, and home and community care services, so that the people of the Western Downs can enjoy safe and inclusive communities,” she said.

“At our Council meeting on Wednesday 18 February, Council decided to take over management of its Tarcoola Aged Care Facility in Tara and Carinya Aged Care Facility in Miles when the contracted management services with Southern Cross Care conclude on Monday 4 May.

“Council has appointed an Aged Care Coordinator for each facility so as to help ensure that our aged care facility residents will experience a smooth transition to the new management arrangements.”
