Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said Council is committed to buying locally and providing local businesses every opportunity to supply goods and services across the Western Downs.

“Buying locally means looking for greater opportunities to engage with local suppliers on everything from Professional, Plant Hire, Trade or Civil services as well as to the supply of goods from Fleet to Fuel,” he said.

“We want to work with local businesses and industry to provide them the right information on how to do business with us.

“So, our Regional Procurement Roadshow is aimed at creating more awareness of what procurement options are available to not only deliver value-for-money results for Council, but ultimately give local businesses and industries the opportunity to continue to grow and contribute to the long-term economic sustainability of our region.”

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Finance and Corporate Services Councillor Ian Rasmussen has put his full support behind the roadshow event.

“Businesses in the Western Downs are renowned both locally and globally for the quality of products and services they provide,” he said.

“We’ve listened to the business and industry community and have taken a new approach to Council’s procurement process to better connect your business with Council’s upcoming works.

“With the 2016/17 Work Packages set to be released, there’s never been a better time for local businesses to get on-board and to find out more about Council’s procurement options at one of the upcoming information sessions.”
