Connect with community organisations through Council’s new online directory

3 May 2017

Western Downs Regional Council is helping our communities gain better access to a number of not-for-profit groups and organisations across the region thanks to our new free online directory, ‘My Community Directory’, now open to our residents and visitors to use.

  • Council has partnered with ‘My Community Directory’ to bring our community a comprehensive list of services and community groups in the Western Downs area;
  • It’s free for residents, and short and long-term visitors to access providing them essential information including contact details, location, detailed descriptions of services, and links to websites and social media platforms;
  • Not-for-profit organisations in the Western Downs wanting to list their details and services can register to use ‘My Community Directory’ for free by following the link on Council’s website.

Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said the new online directory is a one-stop-shop for everyone to connect with health and community services in their community.

“From small volunteer groups and hobbies, to charities and government departments, ‘My Community Directory’ is a valuable database of information for our residents and visitors to find services to help them or get involved,” she said.

“Whether you’re looking for child services or recreation and leisure activities, our community can access hundreds of clubs, groups, government and non-government organisations through this new online directory.

“‘My Community Directory’ is also a great way for our not-for-profit organisations across the region to connect with our community, as well as receive important information about upcoming initiatives, funding opportunities and workshops from Council.

“I strongly encourage all our community groups who haven’t yet added their details into ‘My Community Directory’ to jump on Council’s website and follow the link to take advantage of this free online database.”
