Changes to Council’s Funding Programs means more flexibility for applicants

8 October 2015

Western Downs Regional Council has recently reviewed and updated its Community Grants Policy along with several funding programs, so before applying for funding, community groups and organisations who regularly access Council’s community grants are encouraged to get to know the revised Policy and program changes.

Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development and Health Services Councillor Carolyn Tillman said that, in particular, groups applying for assistance under the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), Council’s Reimbursement Program, and Local Events and Sponsorship Program, can expect to see some noticeable adjustments to funding guidelines.

“Earlier this year, Arts Queensland, in collaboration with local councils, reviewed how the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is managed, and in July introduced some changes giving councils more flexibility to implement locally tailored RADF programs to suit their communities,” she said.

“Along with adjusting the funding categories for individuals and organisations who can apply for a Western Downs RADF grant, Council has reviewed its Community Grants Policy for other programs.

“The updated Grants Policy has seen some minor changes to the program guidelines, exemptions, and funding categories of Council’s Reimbursement Program, and Local Events and Sponsorship Program.

“This review has also seen the removal of the Community Support program in favour of gallery and museum service agreements that allow financial assistance based on level of service delivery to the community, so as to better support the development of these cultural activities throughout the region”.

“I encourage community groups to familiarise themselves with the changes to our funding programs and Policy by visiting Council’s website or calling 1300 COUNCIL.”
