The countdown is on as the Western Downs’ inaugural Big Skies Festival approaches take off Council is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to the region with the help of official Festival Partner Arrow Energy.

The week-long festival from Saturday 28 April to Sunday 6 May will be a destination for foodies, music fans and stargazers alike, with a program that will showcase local produce and artisans alongside Aussie music greats at the historic Jimbour Homestead.

Western Downs Regional Council Mayor Paul McVeigh said support from local business and industry to bring Big Skies to the Western Downs has been outstanding.

“Having so many local businesses jump on board and get behind Big Skies has made putting on this festival for the first time a real community effort,” he said.

“Being the size of Switzerland our region sure does have a lot to showcase to our visitors, and we wouldn’t have been able to put our best foot forward without our official Festival Partner Arrow Energy.

“Thanks to Arrow and our sponsors we’re looking forward to seeing our residents and visitors enjoy the best the Western Downs has to offer at Big Skies.”

Arrow’s Vice President External Relations and Tenure Management Leisa Elder said having been part of the Western Downs for more than a decade Arrow Energy are proud to be the official Festival Partner of Big Skies.

“We believe our success is closely linked to the communities where we operate, and our partnership with Western Downs Regional Council for Big Skies is further demonstration of our support for the region and the people who live here,” she said.
“We’ve known for a long time that the Western Downs is a fantastic place to be, and we are looking forward to helping deliver a great program of activities.”
