Western Downs Libraries embraces cultural diversity

15 August 2017

Western Downs Libraries are continuing to embrace our culturally diverse communities by giving residents the essential English language resources they need to prepare for their IELTS exams.

  • Adding to their extensive eResources catalogue, Western Downs Libraries have introduced the Road to IELTS program to their eLibrary collection;
  • The General and Academic courses are available for free to all Library members, easily accessible through the Libraries website;
  • Western Downs Libraries is committed to helping our residents feel comfortable and confident in our communities by giving the best opportunities to develop their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

Western Downs Regional Council Spokesperson for Community and Cultural Development Councillor Kaye Maguire said as the hub of our communities, it was important for the Libraries to provide support networks to our linguistically diverse residents in the region.

“Our library team is always here to help you. Whether it’s help with becoming a member, booking a computer or navigating the website, they’re always available to lend a hand,” she said.

“The new Road to IELTS program is a great supplement to the work our Libraries are already doing in supporting Conversations in English classes across the region.

“Library members will have unlimited access to the IELTS General and Academic courses to help with all their English learning needs. If you aren’t a member of the library, you can sign up today for free.”
