Water Fluoridation in Queensland
Early in 2008 the Queensland Government passed the Water Fluoridation Bill 2008. Under this legislation public water suppliers, who supply water to over 1,000 people, must add fluoride to the public water supply.
Timeline for Water Fluoridation
Water fluoridation will be phased into water treatment plants in the following local government areas
December 2008
From 1 December fluoride will be phased in to the following water supples:
- Sunshine Coast Regional Council: areas south of the Maroochy River, Maroochydore, Caloundra and the Railway towns
- Brisbane City Council: all suburbs
- Ipswich City Council: all suburbs
- Logan City Council: all suburbs
- Scenic Rim Regional Council: only Warrill View
- Redlands Council: all suburbs
- Moreton Bay Regional Council: all suburbs
- Gold Coast Council: all suburbs.

- Gold Coast desalination plant
- Indigenous communities
- Commencement of Cairns (partial), Gladstone (partial), Mackay(partial), Rockhampton(partial) and Toowoomba (partial)

- Completion of Cairns, Gladstone, Mackay, Rockhampton, Fraser Coast, Gympie, South Burnett and Southern Downs
- Continue Toowoomba.

- Blackall - Tambo, Central Highlands, Western Downs Region, Goondiwindi, Hinchinbrook, Longreach, Mt. Isa, Murweh, North Burnett, Rio Tinto (Weipa), Tablelands and Whitsunday.

Water Fluoridation in Dalby
Dalby water supplies have been fluoridated at a rate of .6 parts per million since May 1966.
Water Fluoridation in Miles
Trials will begin October 10 with flouride being addeded into the Miles potable water supply 10 November.
Miles water supply will be fluoridated at a rate of 0.8 parts per million from 10 November 2011.

Water Fluoridation Regionally
Council is required to have all water treatment plants supplying water to more than 1,000 people fluoridated by 31 December 2011.
