Rates and charges are levied twice a year. General rates are calculated using the relevant rate in the dollar (for each rating category as determined at Council’s annual budget meeting) multiplied by the unimproved value of the rateable property.
Most rate/charge payments received by Council or its appointed agents prior to the close of business on the due date specified on the rate notice will attract a discount of 10%. Payment of all relevant rates and charges must be made in full by due date to receive discount. Discount does not apply to fire levies, special rates and charges or interest charges.
Interest on overdue rates and charges shall be levied at a rate of 11% p.a and will apply to all balances which remain unpaid 60 days after the end of the discount period.
Requests for changes of address must be in writing and signed by the owner.
State and Council remissions of gross rates and charges will be provided to eligible pensioners where the balance of rates/charges (with the exception of special rates and charges, rural fire levies, charges on land and interest charges) are paid in the current year. Applications for pensioner remissions close on the discount date each period.
Domestic gas notices are levied bi-monthly.
Full details are provided in a rates information booklet supplied with the first rates levy each financial year.
